Black On The Roc | Everco's Black On Black Scirocco R

In the norm, when a person outside of Germany buys a brand new German car, that person would buy it for the comfort, luxury, or sophistication of the car. At least that's what most German cars symbolize. Unlike a Nissan Silvia or Honda Civic, modding a new German car would probably only limited to some new wheels, a few external bits or a slightly louder exhaust. That wasn't the case for this car.

According to Kingston, the shop manager of Everco, an exhaust shop in Sunway, the owner have been driving this Scirocco for a while now. Around July 2014, he came to the shop and asked Kingston to make the Scirocco a fast car. When asked what he want on the car he just replies "That's up to you" and just left. Baffled by his reply, Kingston quickly thought of a plan for the car.

First thing anyone would see is the all black exterior. It looks as if the car is made to blend in the night making the car look sophisticated and menacing at the same time. Kind of like the bad guy's car from a Wall Street movie.

While most German car owners will go for BBS, Vossens or some other wheels from Europe, this hot hatch rocks the Gram Lights 57Xtreme wheels since it suits the conditions on the track. To accommodate the wider wheels, custom fender flares from Exotic Mods were molded on the Roc giving it an aggressive persona to an otherwise tamed looking car.

For the power gain, most VW owners would just settle for an ECU flash on a mostly stock engine. This Scirocco on the other hand went a step further. Since Everco is an exhaust shop, they had a lot of piping to experiment with on the engine mods. Most of the bolt-ons like the intake pipes, turbo, and exhaust were either made or modified on site. Summing up to a decent output of 400 ponies from the motor.

No matter what car, a track toy won't be complete with a set of performance coilovers. For this hatch, a nice set of Ohlins coilovers and Alcon brakes were fitted to deliver the handling needed. To transfer these 400 ponies to the asphalt, a set of Yokohama ADVAN AD08R was chosen do just that. At the end of the day, what was the outcome of all these mods on a cars that is already fine as stock? 2 minutes and 34 seconds on Sepang at Zerotohundred Time To Attack competition placing this all black Scirocco 2nd place in the Street Euro class.

For my case, even though my interest is always more to the Japanese cars but after seeing a fine example of mid level tuned Euros like this, it kind of widen my perspective on what can be done on these new generation of German cars. I guess there is no car that is immune from modding and building. I hope to see more tuned Euros like this in the streets of Kuala Lumpur.
